Submitting claims to Alberta Health

Physicians in Alberta must submit claims to Alberta Health in order to be reimbursed for the medical services they provide to patients insured through the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP). Sending claims in with the required information will allow the Ministry of Health in Alberta to quickly process them and send payments back to the care provider. In order to speed up the submission and assessment process, Alberta Health Services use an electronic communication system called H-Link.

Getting Set-up

Getting set-up for medical billing in Alberta with ClinicAid is very simple with ClinicAid. We would suggest that you sign-up for your free ClinicAid trial and then do one of the following depending on your status as a health care provider.

  • If you are a new physician you will need to fill out form AHC0912 to get a new practitioner ID and a new business arrangement number. In section E write "CPI - Cloud Practice Inc." on the line where it says "The Accredited Submitter for this BA is" to have your business arrangement number associated with ClinicAid for submission to H-Link.
  • If you already have a Practitioner number but would like to submit your bills using ClinicAid you will need to fill out form AHC0913 to request a new business arrangement number. In section B make sure to write "CPI - Cloud Practice Inc." on the line where it says "The Accredited Submitter for this BA is" to have your business arrangement number associated with ClinicAid for submission to H-Link. Please note that you can have an unlimited number of Business Arrangement numbers as a practitioner and your new BA will not affect the others in any way.
  • If you already have a new business arrangement number that is not attached to another accredited submitter and you would like to attach it to our submitter prefix you will need to fill out form AHC2096 and we will need to sign it as well as you. Please contact us to get a AHC2096 completed.

All of these forms can be faxed to the Professional and Facility Management unit for Alberta Health and Wellness at 780-422-3552. If you need assistance completing these forms you can call 780-422-1522 and speak to an AHW representation or you can always get in touch with us.
